"I saw him dancing there by the record machine.."

Eric found an awesome record player at his Grandma's several months ago and it has only fueled our love for record thrifting (& dancing around in his room). He had quite a collection to begin with & we keep on adding more & more gems like Run DMC, Hendrix, Pretty in Pink soundtrack, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson... and anything/everything Elton John & Billy Joel. Going to need a closet solely for albums soon...!

winter blues.

Having some good times exploring the winter wonderland and window reflections... Geek status. Got matching hats on my London trip with Eric (which I have yet to post about - working on it!); I love, love, love it. So snuggly. Also digging the bright blue of this sweater. My dear friend, Kaitlyn, gave me the triangle necklace for Christmas - it's amazing.

fuschia + black

I've been traveling to Massachusetts a lot for interviews and to visit Eric. In doing so, I've had to be light in what I pack (Eric would disagree - haha!). I've been challenged to find new ways to wear what I brought up. So, here I am in my pink blouse, yet again. And I still love it.

P.S. If you're diggin' my style, check out the Style Posts tab for my lookbook!

Taking on DIY projects: learning to sew.

This year, I decided to go for a DIY Christmas; I didn't get to make all my presents because I ran out of time, but the gifts I was able to make made me really happy! First, I re-taught myself how to sew with a sewing machine. A bit of a task, but it was definitely not as daunting once I read the manual and checked out some YouTube videos. YouTube is a savior when it comes to DIY. I jumped right in & tried on old socks (haha!), but it was a stellar place to start. I didn't feel like I was wasting fabric and I wasn't afraid to mess up.

Next, I went to JoAnn fabrics and spent hours over two days picking out fabrics & supplies. Sewing was still a challenge and I had to rip a lot of stitches out, but look how cute my fox family plush pillows came out! I used this tutorial from A Beautiful Mess as a guideline. I also sewed my first zipper and bag - booyah! I then made a camera strap for my friend, Allie, but didn't snap a photo (dang!).

I'm happy with the end results - they're not perfect, but that doesn't matter 'cause they're handmade... and I made them. Heck yeah. Can you tell I'm pumped about sewing? I've found plenty more DIY sewing projects that I'd like to try. Maybe I'll post my sewing adventures on here as they happen...

What are some of your favorite DIY projects?

gimme, gimme plaid.

Pretty much not taking these plaid pants off... ever. Minorly obsessed with lipstick (& always moto jackets) these days. Oh, and I'm lusting over these pumps. Le sigh.

New Year, new vibe.

Cut my hair for a fresh start in 2013. 2012 was a blast. It was one of the best years I've known filled with adventures & exploring & lots of Eurotripping. Onward to the next best year... I'm in the process of writing my resolutions to make this year amazing. What are some of your resolutions and dreams for 2013?

Happy New Year!
