eccentric pattern + bright colors.

This is one of my favorite dresses. It's cinched at my waist and flows outward - perfect for my pear shaped body, which is usually hard to please (for real!). I'm also really into leg warmers right now. My mom got me this pair and I think they're pretty much the cutest things ever: they have tiny bows on the side and they're bright red for an edgy pop.

There's a lot going on with this outfit, but I think having one pattern with the three other solid colors allows it to all work together in a spunky way. I know mixing and unmatching patterns is in right now. I'll admit, sometimes I'm afraid of adding color when I'm wearing an eccentric pattern. I've found that if I add other pieces that are solid, I can still get away with pops of color. Hope this may help someone else out there!

Oh, and it was flurrying while I was taking these: seeing the tiny specks show up made me smile.

blazer + lace.

My go-to work booties: I love their worn look mixed with a heel. I also like mixing this oversized blazer with more feminine pieces like this cobalt, lace shirt I got for $12 off the clearance rack at Macy's. Sometimes Macy's can be like a thrift store...

spring forward.

Aqua green, patterned pants, butterfly necklaces, & flats, oh my! Just a weeeeee bit psyched for Springtime. I cannot wait to be walking barefoot through the grass.... [sigh]

corporate cowgirl

In the same way that I like mixing boyish with chic, I love mixing other styles: here, classy and midwestern. I started freelancing in a corporate office, but that in no way means I need to give up having fun with my wardrobe...!

Italk about my mommypie all the time because she is the most beautiful woman I know. Her heart is pure gold - and that is no exaggeration. I've been blissfully blessed to know her my entire life. And did I mention she's a fashion genius? She has this knack for picking clothes for you to try on that you will think will look beyond awful... and then end up your go-to piece in your wardrobe.

I'm gushing over my momma because I thrifted this skirt from her. She actually designed & sewed this maxi skirt when she was in her early 20's. And I'm damn lucky to have snatched up this hand-me-down. Momma, if you're reading this, you should know that I think you rule. And you're my rock. I love you.

rooftop antics.

Woooof, Massachusetts is cold. And super snowy. Wve gotten heaps of snow over the past few weeks, which has resulted in some hardcore shoveling, pretty wonky snowmen and some sweet, late night adventure time...

It's also made me sick with summer fever.. Bring on the sunshine.
